About Us
Our Mission
At Hark Angels, our mission is to build 100 schools in communities where children are still denied the basic opportunity of an education.

Our Beginnings
The Beginning
Richie Harkham's story doesn't start in a village in Cambodia. It starts years earlier, in Kenya, where he began supporting the education of young Maasai girls. While Hark Angels was ultimately born from gratitude after his accident, his journey into philanthropy had already begun. The accident didn't create his desire to help, it gave it a new purpose.
Then, in 2012, everything changed. A motorbike accident nearly took his life. What followed were four years most people never see: eight operations, a golden staph infection, and a world first live knee transplant that gave him back the leg and the life he thought he'd lost. That knee came from a young boy.
Richie has never lost sight of the fact that a child's gift is the reason he can still walk. He wanted to honour that boy, and he chose the only way that felt right to him: he built a school in his name. From that single act of gratitude, Hark Angels was born not out of obligation, but from a desire to pass forward the extraordinary gift he had been given. A second chance, given to him, became first chances for children who had never had one.
The work began in Myanmar, a place Richie had travelled to and couldn't forget. He has remained closely connected ever since, still knowing the name of every headmaster who opens the school gates each morning.
Every stepof the way.
Hark Angels® works toward a world where school is a right, and growing up opens into a real choice.

The Schools
Twelve schools, and every one has a name, a village, and a headmaster you could meet. Choose any of them and open its page: you'll find where it is, who helped build it, how many children walked in the first week, and frequent updates. No two read the same, because no two are the same.
